But this is not about being the best in the world. It’s about giving your best to the world. More important still, the more often you give your best (whether or not it’s even remotely close to world class) and do whatever brings out your best, the better person you will become. And the best part? The more you use your gifts to help others get what they want, the more you’ll get what you want.

Remember what I said in chapter 4 about how the negative moments (like that one little bit of criticism) tend to stick to you while the positive moments (and all those words of praise) roll right off? Well, since you’re wired to cradle your negative moments, you have to be equally deliberate to cradle your positive ones. This means not brushing off or racing past the small wins and steps forward. So set an intention to be more present to the tasks you did excel at, the contribution you did make, the challenge you did overcome. Not all those you did not.

Stop. Savour the moment. Appreciate the progress. Receive the praise. Internalise your success. Celebrate the win.

And then, and only then, move on.

FORGET TRYING TO ADD IN WHAT GOD LEFT OUT.

RATHER DRAW OUT WHAT GOD LEFT IN.
